A complaint againt USIM

April 16, 2009 by husz

I read in the newspaper about this one Law Lecturer in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia who was fired by the Universiti after only 4 of ther 157 students passed. She stated that she gave the marks that they should be getting? What really made me angry was when she said that her superiors wanted her to give sympathy marks so not that many failed. Not only that, some wanted her to give extra marks for attendance also.

I was so angry about this I wrote an email to the Dean and also cc’ed to the Malaysian Quality Accredition agency. I mean this type of thing is what destroys our reputation and also produce substandard graduates.

no wonder they cant get jobs.

This is the email i sent to them

Assalamualaikum Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Shukor Hj. Husin,

i would like to bring to your attention to an issue which I read in today’s theStar, regarding the termination of one of your law lecturers because of the high percentage of failing marks given.

I do not object to the termination but rather on the reason for termination. Low passing percentages in any class is an indication of something gone wrong. What I object to is the short term approach taken by your university in asking the lecturer to give sympathy marks in the form of attendance bonuses. The lecturer is question is right in saying that attendance is their responsibility. A small bonus might be considered for 100% attendance but never for anything else. This brings into question the quality of USIM, USIM graduates and even graduates from Malaysian Universities as a whole!

I for one do not what substandard graduates in the market. Either you qualify for that degree/diploma or you don’t. This is why there are so many graduates that are unable to get jobs. Because they dont’t know anything. Malaysian graduates at the moment is bad as it is with the emphasis on academic credentials only, when you dilute that too, then, what is the point of a University?

I agree something should have been done when a Law lecturer fails a majority of her class. What you should have done is find the root cause! Why did she fail them? Is her standards too high for their level? If that is so, you must determine WHY her standards are too high? You must address WHY the students fail? Is it the curriculum? the culture? the student doesnt understand the medium?

say NO! to sikap sambil LEWA!!!

Show your patriotism to the country by doing your job WELL!

Thank You very much, I hope to receive a reply from someone.

Yours Truly,

Hussin Yusof
a concerned citizen

Life goes in Circles

May 23, 2007 by husz

But for me, Life comes in a tangled web. Honest. This is a true story.

For most of you guys who don’t read my other blog, the more notorious one, you would be out of the loop.. The short story is that I have moved jobs. The Long Story is that, I was offered a position as a Call Center Customer Service Officer in CSOS, a subsidiary of Citibank or else also known as CitiPhone. The job is located in Johor Bahru and I wasnt adversedly opposed to the idea of relocating. I mean, I had lots of Fun in JB back in the day and I like the city, its pretty cheap and there are lots of things to do and places to go if you know the nook and crannies.

So I decided to quit the advertising job (low pay long hours) and go for the call center job which pays more and you only work 8 hours a day. As opposed to going in at 9am and back home at 2am. However, before all this, I did go to one interview with Sharaf Retail. They are opening their second ladieswear boutique. But the interview only lasted for 15 minutes and the interviewer did not at all seem interested. In fact, I called up my friends later saying that I don’t think I would get the job.

Well anyway, AFTER I confirmed with the job in JB, the boutique people called me up to inform me that I got shortlisted and in fact, the job is mine. But as Supervisor. But they didnt know anything else, not even the salary offered and other terms and conditions. I told them that I sent in my resignation letter already and will be going to JB in like the next few days. They asked me to postpone it but where can!

Anyway,… The first day on the job (we have training for a whole month) in the morning some more, I received an SMS from the boutique girls saying they are offering RM3K.

So to cut the story short. Last sunday I drove here(JB) by car and moved in my frens place and soon I will probably move back to KL. *sigh* But its ok. as long as its worth it. Rezeki jangan ditolak.

British Soldiers Tortured Horribly!!

April 11, 2007 by husz

tortured

Yea, you can read all about it in this Bernama article. Allow me to Quote some juicy bits.

Carman told a news conference on Friday of the tactics he said were used by their captors to get information and confessions, saying the sailors were kept isolated and their handling was “a bit rough.”

hohohohoho a little bit rough? And they are complaining? I dont see no Blair giving no flying fig about those Afghans in Guacamole. I dont see Bush shitting blood over those Iraqis shot like pigs. Let me guess “a bit rough” = EPL (Liverpool and Arsenal) + kebabs + ping pong. My guess is that if the Iranians took away the EPL, they would have squealed like pigs.

Several of the 15 mariners said on their return to Britain last week that they had been maltreated and subjected to psychological pressure during their detention.

I guess they were expecting the royal treatment. From what I’ve read, my little sister can scare the shit out of those pansy British Soldiers to spill out state secrets. It is so pathetic the claims to injustice and all. AND IT IS BLOODY HELL DISRESPECTFUL TO THOSE THAT DIED AND SUFFERED IN THE NAME OF “the war on terror”!!

Harsh Comments

I received this comment from a reader of Tauke Saham. Maybe its Tauke Saham. I don’t know.

# Doraemon Says:
March 16th, 2007 at 2:24 am

From your comment, I can conclude that:

1. You knew nothing about stock market analysis esp technical analysis.
2. Stupid enough – can’t differentiate between gambling and investing.
3. Involving your stupid momma investment failure – why don’t u tell us how your father fucked your momma.
4. Your web is lousy, your life is boring and you are sore loseeer

Hmmmm Wow! is this how Malaysians react to dissenting views? Are we such emotional people? Oh well I replied in my earlier post but apparently Doraemon feels that he is justifies in that I deserved such personal attacks.

Of course I believe in Freedom of Speech. So go ahead, curse all you want.

Crazy work schedule

January 19, 2007 by husz

My gawd, I cannot believe that this week is crazy. Its been busy like hell. I am on a pitch, well, I started just researching for the credentials presenting. But when we were shortlisted for the pitch, I worked on the pitch. Not particularly doing important stuff but hey, I am new at this.. and it took hours and hours.

Plus, I volunteered for this other project. And thats due in 3 weeks so I ended up doing trade visits at 2am in the morning and 10am before i go to work just to get things going a little bit. Oh yea, i was also doing location scouting for my regular account. Which I am also going to do tommorow.  sheeeet There just isnt enough time. Seriously I need another job. And this weekend, I probably have to go to work some more.. all because I didnt have the time to tear out the advertisements of my account this week.  It piles up like nobody’s business. Plus I havent done the consumer and market analysis..

Oh my god! been working like a pig and still need to do on the weekend. Oh well..  Oh on another note, do visit my political blog and read this post. Quite angry but not that angry. Its about those 2 malaysian bloggers who were sentenced to death. hahaha no la.. sued by the lame ass NST.
